Puri Hirunpitak, Tinnakorn Asvarak, Tipanand Krairiksh, Nitra Kitiyakara na Ayudhaya and ML Athadis Diskul were among those looking forward to admiring what Lay's had promised would be the largest photo exhibition Thailand had ever seen, with their images, along with those of other celebrity figures, projected on the glass wall of Central World.
Of course, organising such a major outdoor function was a risk during the rainy season. But Lay's hoped the bright sunshine at noon was a good omen. Sadly, their hopes were dashed.
Rain delayed the start of the party but guests packed the space that was decorated as a cool hip club based on the funky commercial for the new crisps and chatted with the presenter, heartthrob singer, Peter Corp Dyrendal.
"Apart from his fame, Peter has the kind of lifestyle that matches the image of Lay's Stax consumers. He drives to work, watches movies, listens to music and goes to a fitness club," says Chandvipa Pipatanakul, Pepsi-Cola (Thai) Trading's marketing director, adding that Lay's Stax come in the latest packaging design complete with sliding tray.
Finally, the rain eased and the show began, with 2D photos of 50 celebrities in various fields showing their enjoyment of Lay's.
And while the images were not as crisp as they would have been on a clear night, veteran creative director Suthisak Sucharittanon admitted that it was a cool idea to project the photos onto the wall of a building.
The projection also raised funds for Baan Rachawadi, a home for the mentally retarded, with those appearing in the exhibition donating a total of Bt30,000.
The 50 celebs also included Wongtanong Chainarongsingh, Kunnicha Pornprapha, Shermarn Boonyasak and Metinee Kingpayome.
