Vice chairman Ajva Taolanond said the company had invested Bt300 million in 270 projects, 200 of which have already broken even.
As a result of this group-wide initiative, which has reduced energy use by 20 per cent, the agribusiness conglomerate has netted six of the 13 categories in the Thailand Energy Awards 2007, organised by the Ministry of Energy.
The awards focus on energy conservation and renewable energy. For the first category, three of CP Group's factories and a commercial building were awarded for saving energy.
The group has also ventured into renewable energy with biodiesel. Its power plant, which uses waste from its production of vegetable oil, won Thailand and Asean awards.
Anand Maknoon, a mechanical engineer at the group's feed plant in Ban Plu, also won the best personnel award.
This year, 109 works were submitted for the awards, of which 40 were chosen.
