
Guide Ben Lee said he is teaching the volunteers how to identify areas that are prone to poaching and to spot traps.
"Poaching in the areas around reservoirs has become more rampant recently and we decided we needed to do something about it," The Straits Times quoted Lee as saying.
The prime targets are fish such as the snakehead, sought after for the aquarium trade and for the dinner table.
Bird species such as the Oriental White Eye and Oriental Magpie Robin command about 150-Singapore dollars (98 US dollars).
