Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana enhanced their portfolios with their first ATP semi-final berth together as they overcame a hiccup in the second set to win the doubles quarter-final in the US$416,000 Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport on Thursday.
The twins, never before progressed beyond the quarter-finals in tree attempts on the pro circuit, tackled British Jamie Delgado and Dick Norman of Belgium 6-2 4-6 (10-2) to set up a date with Australia's Nathan Healey and Igor Kunitsyn of Russia in the next round.
But countryman Danai Udomchoke had to leave the tournament after a disappointing defeat to Germany's Mischa Zverev in the men's singles second round. Danai comfortably took the opening set 6-2 but laboured in the following sets as he lost 5-7 6-7 (4-7) after one hour and 55 minutes.
