Samui to get bigger and better

[BEACH VOLLEYBALL] The third Bangkok Airways Beach Volleyball tournament will be held on picturesque Koh Samui once again next week, this year with a new category for professional teams.

The tournament will be staged from July 19-22 at Chaweng beach, and is timed to promote the tourism to the resort island during the low season.

With the growing number of participants over the previous two years, the organisers wanted to further bolster the event's reputation by expanding the competition and adding more activities.

The new professional category will be limited to eight teams each in the men's and women's divisions, while there is no limit on the number the number of teams in amateur category.

There will be a special match featuring celebrities on the final day of the competition, which is expected to draw huge interest.

The winners in the professional categories will receive Bt20,000 in prize money, trophies and round-trip air tickets; winners in the amateur categories will receive Bt10,000 in prize money, trophies and round-trip air tickets.
