Famous Muay Thai promoter dies

[MOURNING] Song Kanchanachusak, famous promoter and manager of former WBC flyweight champion Muangchai Kittikasem, passed away on Monday evening. He was 72.

His daughter and Thai Rak Thai Party member Orathai said that while taking a rest at his residence at around 4pm, Song felt pain at his chest and fainted shortly after that. He was rushed to the nearby Klang Hospital by Orathai and her younger brother.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Song was taken to the ICU for the heart pumps, only to find later that it was in vain. He died peacefully at 5pm.

Thai boxing circle mourned the loss of Song, who made great contributions to Muay Thai and business alike.

Song was a successful Muay Thai promoter. He was the man behind the great success of Muangchai Kittikasem, the 108-pound International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion and the WBC (World Boxing Council) flyweight winner.

His funeral will be held at Sala 14 Wat Debsirin from July 11 onwards.
