London bomb suspect 'recently visited Thailand'

A suspect in the failed London car bomb attacks recently spent several days in a Thai resort before returning to the UK, Thai police said Wednesday.

The man from Pakistan had a British passport and entered Thailand on June 17, then returned to the UK on July 2, a police spokesman said.

"Thai police tracked the man to Krabi province and let him go back home after we found that he was not on the blacklist in Thailand," said Police Col. Ronarg Yangyuen.

Thai police refused to give the man's name and said since he was not on the Interpol blacklist, Thailand had no right to detain him.

The man is a suspect in the attack at Glasgow Airport last month, and in connection with the discovery of two car bombs in London.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said they were not aware of an arrest in Thailand in connection with their investigation.
