
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and four oil firms are cooperating in a campaign to reduce global warming by switching off the engines of parked cars.
Every such action contributes to a better environmental future for everyone, according to the BMA.
Bangkok governor Apirak Kosayodhin said the city government and four oil companies --including PTT Pcl, Bang Chak Petroleum Pcl, Esso and Shell had joined together in the campaign.
The campaign will be kicked off at every PTT gas station in Bangkok, he said.
Besides the switching off car engines campaign, Mr. Apirak also urged motorists to join a car pool, travel by bus or use bicycles to assist in fighting global warming.
Bangkok's City Hall has been conducting activities designed to promote reducing global warming on the ninth of every month. The first campaign began with fanfare on May 9.
