Shrimp farmers from the Southern provinces marched to the Commerce Ministry on Monday, calling for price intervention measures to solve domestic price drop below production costs for more than four months.

The group of shrimp farmers said they want the government to set a clearer measure for relieving problem of thousands shrimp farmers, otherwise they

will be forced to shut down soon. They also called for shrimp feed manufacturer, CP Feed, to decrease its feed price during the shrimp price falling.

The shrimp prices in domestic have fallen gradually since early this year because of oversupply. The shrimp price at the farm gate for middlesized shrimp is at Bt60 per kilogramme, while the price should be at Bt130 per kilogramme.  - The Nation
