Geremi completes Newcastle move

"Geremi has passed a medical and agreed personal terms with the Magpies, and will arrive on a free transfer from Chelsea on a three-year contract once his work permit has been obtained," a Newcastle spokesman said.

 The 28 year old bolsters manager Sam Allardyce's defensive options, and could also fill in on the right side of midfield.

 He is Allardyce's fourth signing of the summer, following forward Mark Viduka, midfielder Joey Barton and defender David Rozehnal.-(dpa)
