
Despite a strong international field, it was the Thai golfers who excelled in the MercedesTrophy junior golf masters final, winning five of the six classes and earning their places on a trip to Las Vegas in November for the Teens On The Green World Championship Final. The tournament which was held at the Rose Garden Golf Club from 26 - 29 June attracted junior golfers from 14 countries.
In the boys 18 and under class, Thailand's Pawin Ingkhapradit saw off the challenge of Alex Wei Zen of Malaysia and Hao-Sheng Hsu of Taipei with a fine one under par 71 on the final day. In the girls 18 and under division, the Thai girls dominated from the opening day, with Pornpak Rattanapakdeekul carding a 71 on the last day to head home compatriots Nuchada Vitayakonkomol and Ornthana Chubnarrom.
The best round of the championship went to Marcel Puyat who hit a sizzling 68 on the final day for a come from behind win in the boys 14 and under class against Thailand's Thammanoon Koonmark and Kevin Techakanokboon of the USA. The Jutanugarn sisters completed a double in the girls division. Moriya winning the 14 and under class from Schbaiporn Preamcheun and Ariya winning the 12 and under class from America's Ester Lee. In the boys 12 and under class Ratchavin Tanakasempipat led from the first day for a convincing win by 5 strokes from Pachara Sakulyong.
The MercedesTrophy Masters Final is the last leg of the MercedesTrophy Junior Golf Championships, which are played between October and June annually.
