Nike joins hands with Fitness First to promote a new dance workout called "Nike Rockstar Workout Dancehall".
It's called a dancehall workout as it requires the whole group to move across the floor as in many music videos.
The choreographer is Jamie King, who choreographed pop stars including Britney Spears, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Madonna and South Korean pop-sensation Rain. What is special is the reggae dance style that works the strength of your legs, while focusing on the flexibility of the waist and hands.
"There is rarely a fitness dance with a mixture of island-inspired music like reggae," says Pakwan Supanitrattana, senior group exercise manager of Fitness First. "This is a motivating workout. It will make dancing an everyday activity."
The workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up followed by a 35-minute routine. It increases the heart rate, as well as depth of breathing, to increase muscle endurance. At the end there is a 10-minute cool down, allowing the body to normalise after the workout.
Although the workout was originally designed for women, many men have also joined in the fun.
Besides the fun of listening to music and dancing, the workout burns calories while strengthening core muscles. For maximum fun, choose sports gear designed for dancing. Throw in a short-sleeved hoodie with a zip front and sports cargo pants to look like a true star.
