Court orders website watched

The Criminal Court yesterday filed a complaint with police against the webmaster operating the website of Maj General Khattiya Sawasdipol and four people who posted messages carrying libellous content against its verdict sentencing the officer to a non-suspended, four-month prison term.
However, Chief Justice Jirawan Suyanwanichkul did not seek the closure of the website, www.sae-dang.com, as requested by acting police chief Seripisut Temiyavej, who won a defamation trial against Khattiya that later resulted in his conviction. Jirawan only called on agencies fighting online crimes to keep websites in check. Speaking at the Criminal Courthouse, Jirawan said she would leave it to Khattiya whether he would wear his camouflage uniform to attend future court sessions, and that the judges that would hear another 28 defamation trials against the officer would decide whether they would refuse his bail request for temporary release. At Jirawan's order, Crime Suppression Division investigators would discover the identity of the website visitors who logged two postings carrying contempt of court content from three different Internet Protocols.
