EC given power to control a caretaker government

The Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) gave on Monday the Election Commission (EC) power to control a caretaker government concerning major decisions in a bid to limit the chances of power abuse to benefit its members' election campaigns.

After a tense debate, the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) yesterday voted by a strong majority to have the draft constitution state that the prime minister must be selected from members of Parliament and have a term in power limited to eight years.
