NCCC to probe bribery claims

The National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) yesterday launched a fact-finding probe to see if there are grounds for graft proceedings against two senior officials alleged to be involved in bribery attempts to rig the electoral fraud verdict against the Thai Rak Thai Party.
"The NCCC will collect evidence and pertinent information to decide whether a full graft investigation is warranted," NCCC member and spokesman Klanarong Chantik said.Klanarong was speaking after Justice Ministry permanent secretary Charan Pakdithanakul handed over evidence of a signed letter offering bribes to Constitution Tribunal judges. Charan claimed the two senior officials acted as brokers for the attempted kickbacks. "The NCCC will speed up its proceedings to rule on the issue as quickly as possible, although it cannot specify a timetable," Klanarong said. He said it was too early in the investigation to name the suspects involved. The Nation
