A dream to be a world-class ice skater might seem to be an impossible one for a young Thai, but with the presence of several ice rinks in Bangkok, it's not such a far-fetched notion.

The latest ice rink in Bangkok opened two months ago at the Esplanade complex on Ratchadaphisek Road. With an atmosphere like a disco and karaoke rooms on the side, the Sub-Zero Ice Skate Club has become a hang-out spot for young people. The Bt50-million complex calls itself a place for "clean sport and entertainment".
