Attorney General office delays decision on Por Pratunam

The Attorney General Office's Department of Economic Crime Litigation on Thursday postponed its decision to May 30 on whether to sue businessman Paijit Thammarojpinit, also known as Por Pratunam, and eight others.
Public prosecutor Paiboon Ananchavanich said the office could not make the decision as scheduled as it needed more investigation, witness interviews and evidence. If the case goes to court, Por and the other suspects - including his wife and daughter - would face charges of operating a gambling den, possessing stolen items, charging abovelegallimit interest rates, bringing goods into the country without paying taxes and having a number of playingcard decks beyond the legal limit. The case stemmed from a predawn raid by police on a gambling den in Bangkok's Ratchathewi district in February last year that rounded up 262 gamblers and seized betting items and money totalling Bt152 million. Por was allegedly involved in the gambling den's operations, while 64 vehicles found near the den were believed to have been pawned by indebted gamblers. The Nation
