Two soldiers killed by suspected militants in Pattani

Pattani - A roadside bomb killed three soldiers and seriously wounded two others in Yarang district, while in Narathiwat's Rangae district, a security unit and a Buddhist novice out receiving alms came under attack by gunmen using AK47 and M16 automatic rifles in Narathiwat's Rangae district.
Police found 30-metre long electrical wire leading off the Yarang's backroad that they believe was used to trigger the bomb that was estimated to be about 20 kilogramme in weight.
The explosion capsised the vehicle and left a three metre by one metre crater on the road. One soldier died at the scene while the other two died at the Yala Hospital.
Soldiers sealed off the road was sealed off until bomb squads clear the area to ensure that there is no second bomb hidden in the area.
Concern over the militants' use of second bomb has prompted the army to publish 5,000 handbooks to warn security officials on the ground to take extra precaution. The warning came after it became evident that insurgents have made "progress" with their tactics. The secondbomb tactic had earlier this week blew off the left leg and left hand of the deputy commander of Narathiwat Provincial Police, Colonel Nopadol Puerksomon, who has just past the critical condition at the press time Saturday.
