Most are based in the Northeast, the stronghold of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, and have been accused of failing to respond to instructions from the current administration. Royal approval will be sought for the appointments by the Interior Ministry. Inspector general Sompong Anuyutthapong will become the governor of Nan province. Current Nan governor Parinya Pantong will become governor of Amnat Charoen. Udon Thani governor Jareuk Pariyaphol has been appointed an inspector general at the Interior Ministry. He will be replaced by Suphoj Laowansiri, Nong Khai governor. The vacant post in Nong Khai will be filled by Chai Nat governor Chadej Musikkawong, whose place will be filled by Praphakorn Samiti, who is currently an Interior Ministry inspector general.
