Egypt to donate olive trees to mark HM birthday

Cairo - Egypt will donate 80 olive trees to Thailand to jointly celebrate HM the King's 80th anniversary and to show the strong relationship with Thailand, Thai Ambassador to Egypt Noppadol Theppitak said Tuesday.

The delivery of the trees are expected to conduct around July, the ambassador said.

He was speaking during a three-day official visit of Deputy Prime Minister Saowanit Kongsiri to Cairo, starting Tuesday.

"Egypt would like to join Thai people in their celebration on the occasion of HM the King's 80th anniversary this year. Olive trees are regarded as symbol of peace," the envoy said.

Thai deputy foreign minister Tuesday met League of Arab States Amre Moussa and presided over a football match between Thai students in Egypt and under 17 national football team.

Foreign and Public Health ministries yesterday jointly provided free medical check up for Thai students in Cairo as the medical expenses in this country are too expensive for them.
