Reshuffle unlikely

There is only a slim chance of Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont reshuffling his Cabinet again because the government has only six months left in office, a source close to him said yesterday.

"It is unlikely that the prime minister will shake up his Cabinet again over the remaining period in office. It is more likely he will prod relevant agencies to work at full steam," said the Government House source.

The source questioned media speculation about an imminent shake-up in the government.

"The prime minister is the compromising type. He's likely to make sure Cabinet efficiency improves," said the source.

"Don't forget that too many cooks spoil the broth. If new people are taken into the Cabinet, the ministers will need time to adapt to one another. So the prime minister is likely to opt for correcting flaws in his Cabinet," the source said.
