PM is fit

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont could be discharged from the hospital today as results from his physical examination show he is in good health, his personal physician Parinya Thavichaigarn said yesterday.
Parinya said Surayud's heart is functioning well and his coronary blood vessels are normal. The premier expects to be released this evening or tomorrow morning, after hearing the results of tests on his colon.Surayud suffered from a colon infection eight years ago but has never had a recurrence, Parinya said. Privy councillor Siddhi Savetsila presented a bouquet on behalf of Their Majesties the King and Queen to his former colleague at Bangkok Hospital. Council for National Security chairman Sonthi Boonyaratglin, Supreme Commander Boonsang Niampradit and other CNS members, including Pol General Kowit Wattana, have also visited Surayud.
