Thai envoys told to increase confidence

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanond told twenty Thai ambassadors going for overseas posting on Monday to increase confidence of foreign countries in Thailand's democratic development, according to informed sources.
The sources said that Surayud lunched with the ambassadors, who are stationing in various parts of the world, at the government and exchanged views on regional and domestic issues.He said that the government would continue to follow the national reconciliation policy in the south and ensure the safety of the peoples living in the south because everybody there is Thai people. On the Asean charter, which the prime minister showed keen interest, he said the government agencies need to adjust its mindset to cope with the challenges of the future changes including growing borderless world. He stressed the Asean Charter would be an important instrument to lead Asean. Surayud also received briefing on the works done by the Foreign Ministry and the recent successful trip at the Asean-EU Ministerial Meeting in Nuremburg, Germany.
