[BADMINTON] Thailand's Ponsana siblings ended their campaign in Birmingham after suffering second-round defeats in the US$200,000 All England Badminton Super Series on Thursday night.

In the men's singles second round, Boonsak, who is ranked No 10 in the world, was beaten 21-14 21-10 by China's world No 6 Chen Yu.

The victory put Chen ahead in their head-to-head meetings with three wins and two defeats in five encounters.

Boonsak's younger sister Salakjit met the same fate, falling to world No 1 and defending champion Xie Xingfang of China 21-10 21-9.

Earlier, their Thai compatriots were eliminated in the first round. Duang-Anong Aroonkesorn and Kunchala Vorawichitchaikul lost to Chinese world No-3 pairing Wei Yili and Zhang Yawen 21-7 21-9 in the women's doubles.

Songphon Anukrittayawan and Kunchala went down to Robin Middleton and Liza Parker of England 14-21 22-20 21-11 in the mixed doubles.
