Jakkrit may deliver the first gold

[SEA GAMES] Shooter Jakkrit Panichpatikum is likely to deliver the first SEA Games gold for Thailand when the shooting competition begins one week ahead of the opening ceremony on December 6.
Due to a clash with the Asian Shooting Championships, which is a qualification round for the Beijing Olympic Games next year, the organisers yesterday decided to advance the SEA Games shooting competition to November 29. The Asian event, to be hosted by Kuwait, will be held from December 5 to 12 The programme change means that Thailand will have a chance to win their first gold medal through Jakkrit in the men's 10m individual air-pistol event. Three more gold medals - in the men's 10m team air-pistol, the women's 25m individual and the team standard-pistol events - will be on offer on the same day. Admiral Surawut Maharom, chairman of the SEA Games preparation committee, said host city Nakhon Ratchasima would be ready for the Games, with construction of venues completed by September and tests to be finished by end-November. A total of 451 gold medals in 41 sporting events will be on offer in the 25th Games.
