Ex-senator dies

Former Phitsanulok Senator, Police Lt-General Narong Amartayakul, died at a provincial hospital yesterday.

He was 67. Narong died of a cerebral haemorrhage after falling ill on Friday and being admitted to hospital in Phitsanulok.

He was being transferred to Police General Hospital on Saturday when his condition worsened. He lost consciousness on the journey to Bangkok and required emergency treatment at Naresuan University Hospital. He was transferred to Buddhachinaraj Hospital in Phitsanulok where he died.

Bathing rituals will be held at 5pm today at Dhammachakra Temple in Phitsanulok. Evening prayers will be at 8pm from today until Sunday. The cremation will be on Monday at 4pm.
