Thirapat to stay on

PM's Office Minister Thirapat Serirangsan yesterday told his supporters that he would not quit following the resignation of MR Pridiyathorn Devakula as deputy prime minister and finance minister.

Pridiyathorn said one of the reasons for his resignation was that he did not want to work with "certain ministers" who worked in favour of "certain media".

Political observers believe Pridiyathorn was referring to Thirapat.

A group of 10 people led by Pethai Pathumchantarat yesterday presented a bouquet of flowers to Thirapat as moral support.

Pethai said Thirapat had told her group that he would not quit as reported.

Thirapat declined to comment on the reasons cited by Pridiyathorn for his resignation.

Meanwhile, PM's Office Minister Prasith Kowilaikul denied a press report that he would also step down following Pridiyathorn, who had persuaded him to join the Cabinet. He said he would continue to work for the government. -
