Park's Bt3-bn revamp

Siam Park City, a water amusement park in Bangkok, plans to invest Bt3 billion over the next year to upgrade its rides and services to meet international standards.
Chaiwat Luangamornlert, chairman of Amornphantnakorn-Siam Park, operator of the park in Min Buri, said yesterday that the park would initially receive support from Jerudong Park in Brunei to provide and install six rides imported from the world's leading designers. Two of the new rides will come from Dutch company Vekoma, including a suspended, looping roller-coaster, considered one of the world's two biggest, with a length of 755 metres and height of 33 metres. Swiss firm Intamin will provide a 75-metre giant drop. Huss of Germany will send the 100-metre-high Siam-Tower, the Aladdin's Carpet and another fun ride. "These rides are expected to begin service in October," said Chaiwat, adding that the attractions were currently being installed under the supervision of expert engineers from the manufacturers. Siam Park City will continue to invest next year by importing 10 leading rides. "With our investment plan, the company is satisfied with its performance and is confident this will pave the way for the company to list its shares on the stock market," said Chaiwat. The park is holding its Big Holiday 2007 event from March 10 to May 13, during which a wide variety of activities and rides will be available. "The company expects at least one million people to visit the park during the event," said Chaiwat.
