Big response for event

[endurance race] Adventure lovers will have another chance to test their physical and mental endurance when the North Face River Kwai Trophy kicks off on March 10 in Kanchanaburi.
The one-day event received good response as the number of participating teams rose from 40 to 80 this year with squads from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the US being the favourites. The non-stop race, of teams of two persons each, features biking, jungle running, kayaking and swimming in the Kwai river. The competition is divided into four categories - men's, women's, mixed and master divisions (over 40 years). The event provides two different levels of course, which pass a scenic trail of mountains, farmland and the magnificent Kwai valley. The first level is the Adventure course, for beginners and fit competitors, while the second one is the Extreme course, for athletes and experienced adventure racers. All teams must complete a course from checkpoint to checkpoint without separating from their partners. The competition starts at 8.30am with medical staff and police officers being provided throughout the route. There are three points of drinking water service in each course. The winning team in each category will take trophies plus bonus prizes, while all contestants will receive gifts from the event's organisers via lucky draw.
