Ousted PM to speak at IISS in London

Deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra will speak at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a London-based politicalmilitary think tank.

According to IISS's website, Thaksin will give an address on "Democracy at a Crossroads" at on March 2.

Thaksin has travelling around the world over the past five months attacking the military-backed government through his interviews with the international media.

Although Thaksin said he has quitted politics, critics billed his public relations blitz abroad, including the hiring of powerful lobbyist firms in the United States, as an attempt re establish his image and boost his international standing.

Thaksin's activity abroad has irritated the junta that ousted him in the September 19 coup.

The junta accused the ousted prime minister of massive corruption during his terms on the office.
