Suspected militants attack security convoy of Thanpuying Viriya

Latest report showed that Thanpuying Viriya Chavakul suffered a minor cut on her face from flying glass shattered by the bullets from the roadside attack on her convoy in Yala's Krongpinang district.

The security convoy for Thanpuying Viriya Chavakul, a confidante to Her Majesty the Queen, came under a hail of gunfire on Wednesday in Yala's Krong Pinang district, police said.The attack also injured a police officer who was part of the security detail. The attack took place at the Ban Kuan Dindan in Yala's Klong Pinang district.

Viriya was in the deep south to carry out her duty in her capacity as the head of foundation that provide moral supports for soldiers and police in the restive region.

Authorities dispatched security forces and helicopters to track down the culprits who was said to have quickly retreated into the nearby village.
