Peace troops off to Nepal

The Cabinet will today approve a plan to dispatch 20 military officers, including 10 medical personnel, to join the United Nations peace mission in Nepal for a year.
The mission is part of a peace process agreed by the Nepalese government and Maoist rebels on November 21, 2006.The United Nations Political Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) is in accordance with Security Council resolution 1740 and the UN has already begun registering and monitoring Maoist weapons and soldiers. The Thai team will be dispatched at the UN's expense, according to a government document prepared by the Foreign Ministry for the Cabinet.
