Isuzu promotes trailblazer

Appointed the first female board member of Tri Petch Isuzu Sales five years ago, Panatda Chennavasin has become the first female to take the company's vice-president post, effective February 1.
Panatda began her career at Tri Petch about 20 years ago, after graduating from Thammasat University's Faculty of Commerce and Accounting. She is fluent in English and Japanese. "I was lucky to have a very good boss when I first joined the company," she said. "He delved into details. And now, when I have to delegate work, I know how to get things done," she told reporters while on a recent trip to Mexico. Panatda completed a master's degree in international trade at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, which she attended on a Japanese government scholarship. While in Tokyo, she worked for Radio Japan for four years and took a one-year marketing course at Isuzu Motors and Mitsubishi Corp. In 2005 she was named "Outstanding Executive" for the automotive sector. Panatda is responsible for global exports of Isuzu's D-Max pickup from Thailand. Isuzu Motors started exporting the model from Thailand in 2003 when 380 pickups left Laem Chabang port bound for Greece, Italy and the UK. Thailand is the largest market for Isuzu, which has claimed the No 1 position in the one-tonne pickup segment here for more than 20 years. The Nation
