Loxley sets modest sales target for 2007

Loxley's wholesale handset-distribution unit targets sales growth of 3.5 per cent this year, inching up from about 3 per cent last year.
Director Suroj Lamsam said that forecast was in response to the plans of major operators to launch more mobile phones and its plan to aggressively market its Zeason brand upcountry.Loxley distributes mobile phones for Sony-Ericsson, LG, BenQ and Taiwan's Gigabyte, which has been rebranded as GSmart. Suroj said the distribution unit posted revenues of Bt1.2 billion in 2005 and had a loss of Bt200 million. Yesterday, it introduced the GSmart i300 model, which features a satellite-based global positioning system to tap tech-savvy users. It is priced at Bt23,900. "We aim to sell 700 units of the model monthly," Suroj said. - Usanee Mongkolporn, The Nation
