Car exports rise by 22 per cent

Thailand last year witnessed 22-per-cent growth in passenger-car exports to 538,966 units. Their combined value was Bt240.76 billion, an increase of 18.59 per cent.

The Federation of Thai Industries also reported that 179,742 cars were manufactured for the domestic market, showing a meagre growth of 0.93 per cent. - The Nation.

Crab warning

The Fisheries Department has warned exporters that Taiwan will ban Thai live crabs if they find degraded goods again.

Director-general Jaranthada Karnasuta said yesterday the Thai Trade Centre in Taiwan had reported that low-quality crab will be immediately banned.

However, the department will hold a meeting with exporters of live crab on February 1. - The Nation.

 

KTB cuts rates

Krung Thai Bank said that it would reduce 12-month, 24-month and 36-month deposit rates by 25 to 50 basis points, effective from today.

The bank is also reducing some types of three-month and six-month deposit rates by 0.125 to 0.25 percentage points. - The Nation.
