Traditional-medicine centre

The Cabinet meeting on Tuesday endorsed a request to draft an exchange agreement needed to support the construction in Phuket of a traditional Thai medical centre with the assistance of the Chinese government.
The foreign minister is now authorised to sign for Thailand. A joint project between Thailand and China will develop the Thai Traditional Medical Centre in Phuket, one of the six southern provinces that suffered from the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004. The Chinese government is enthusiastic about offering expertise to help with the recovery of the Thai alternative-health business to provide services for both Thais and foreigners. The Chinese embassy has drafted an Exchange of Notes in which the Chinese government will provide support for the centre's construction. The support will be in the form of expertise. The Chinese government will coordinate a delegation to directly oversee the construction. The Thai government, through the Development of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Department at the Public Health Ministry, will be responsible for the process.
