Mixed results at Kasikornbank

Kasikornbank yesterday announced a net profit of Bt3.43 billion for the fourth quarter, up 11 per cent from Bt3.08 billion in the same period of 2005.

Its net profit for the whole of 2006 was recorded at Bt13.66 billion, slightly down from the previous year's Bt13.93 billion.

The bank said its bad loans as of the fourth quarter represented 3.17 per cent of its outstanding lending.

It allocated Bt5.42 billion for loan-loss provisions in 2006, compared with Bt3.66 billion a year earlier. Its capital adequacy ratio for the period came in at 14.74 per cent.

Kasikornbank said its non-performing loans as of the end of December were at Bt20.89 billion, down from Bt42.46 billion, or around 6.52 per cent of its total credit, as of the end of September.

Its assets stood at Bt936.96 billion - up from Bt908.82 billion a year earlier - at the end of September.
