HM approves appointments of CDA chairman

His Majesty the King approved the appointment of Constitution Drafting Assembly chairman Noranit Sethabutr and his two deputies, Seri Suwanapanont and Decho Saowananont, in a royal command released Thursday.
The 100-member CDA entrusted Noranit to the job by an uncontested vote and elected his two deputies during its first session last Monday.Following Noranit's royal endorsement, the CDA is expected to convene an informal meeting on Monday before holding the second session on the following day. The CDA's second session will review the formation of committees to assist in the charter drafting process and set stage for the naming of 25 charter writers. Under the 2006 Interim Constitution, the CDA has two weeks to name the charter writers after convening its first session. It has about a week left to finalise its decision. The CDA's charter writers will join the other 10 picked by the Council for National Security to draft a new constitution within 180day deadline. The CNS has announced that it would unveil its charter writers no later than the first week of February. The Nation
