Thailand's own 'BusinessWeek' edition, in Thai

Starting in June, a Thai-language edition of BusinessWeek, one of the world's most widely read business magazines, will be available in Thailand.

The Thai-language version is made possible by a deal signed yesterday between BusinessWeek and Bangkokstation Network, a publishing company based in Bangkok.

BusinessWeek's Thai-language edition will be published monthly and available at news-stands and by subscription. Editorial content will consist of selected material from BusinessWeek and businessweek.com, as well as local editorial material developed by Bangkokstation Network specifically for publication in BusinessWeek Thailand.

"Both BusinessWeek and Bangkokstation Network are committed to the highest ethical standards," said Gary Hopkins, BusinessWeek's senior vice president for operations. "We are looking forward to working together to produce a successful, high-quality publication."

Founded in 1929 and published by McGraw-Hill, BusinessWeek magazine is the market leader, with more than 4.7 million readers each week in 140 countries. Local-language editions include ones in Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Bulgarian, Romanian, Turkish and Indonesian.

"I am extremely proud to have been given the opportunity to launch a Thai-language edition of the world's most widely read business publication," said Bangkokstation Network CEO Kotaro Maru. "There is a distinct lack of unbiased business news, and BusinessWeek Thailand will fill that gap with a mix of global stories and locally produced articles - in keeping with the high standards of journalism demanded by readers of such an influential publication."

Bangkokstation Network, which is part of the Asia Partnership Group, has the backing to become one of Thailand's leading publishing companies. BusinessWeek Thailand will be its first internationally licensed title.
