Blast victims recovering

One more Bangkok-bomb victim was yesterday discharged from hospital and the rest were making good progress in their recovery, said Public Health Minister Dr Mongkol na Songkhla.

Duangchan Lonutch, who was wounded in the chest on New Year's Eve, was allowed to leave the Police General Hospital.

Sixteen other victims, including two foreigners, were still receiving treatment at seven different hospitals in Bangkok, said Mongkol.

Samruay Sridao, who was badly injured in the blast at Victory Monument, is still in the intensive care unit of Rajavithi Hospital.

The Justice Ministry has ordered its Rights and Liberties Protection Department to pay financial compensation to all victims of the bombings - both dead and alive.

Justice deputy permanent secretary Tongthong Chandransu said the families of those who died would each get Bt100,000, victims with minor injuries would each get Bt10,000, those needing hospitalisation would each get Bt20,000, while those who were disabled would each get Bt30,000.
