Air France KLM has new GM for region

Air France KLM has appointed Luc Delaplace as new general manager for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Burma, effective from January 1.
Delaplace replaces Francis Richard, who will become Air France general manager for Italy, Malta and Albania. Delaplace joined Air France in 1990 after graduating from ESSEC French Business School, specialising in marketing. He was posted in Vienna as assistant marketing agent before he joined the "yield management project" team in Paris 18 months later. After two years spent in Lyon as marketing manager, he was appointed in 1995 country manager for Gabon. In 1998, he was appointed sales and marketing manager for Morocco and Algeria. Prior to this appointment, he was pricing manager for Medium Haul, Domestic and International. "It is a significant challenge to work in Thailand where I will oversee Air France and KLM operations in five countries in the Mekong region. Our commitment to this region remains strong. "We will continue to strengthen the Bangkok hub as a gateway to other points in Southeast Asia, and dedicate ongoing efforts to service the Thai people, aiming to become their preferred European airlines," Delaplace said. Air France and KLM offer 14 flights a week between Bangkok and Europe, including daily flights to Paris and Amsterdam. Air France connects Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City four times a week and to Hanoi three times.
