Bombs a diversion from allegations, TRT claims

The Thai Rak Thai Party yesterday challenged Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont and the Council for National Security (CNS) chief Sonthi Boonyaratglin to swear that they do not organise the bombs in Bangkok to overshadow reports of allegations against them.

Thai Rak Thai Party caretaker deputy spokesman Chatuporn Prompan asked if Surayud and Sonthi created the bomb attacks to divert public attention from the allegations that Surayud encroached on reserved forest and that Sonthi had registered two marriages.

He defended the party after allies of the former PM were blamed for the blasts in the capital on the New Year's Eve.

He alleged the government and the CNS defamed deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra whenever they were in trouble, and warned that Surayud and Sonthi would face the same fate as Field Marshall Thanom Kittikachorn and Gen Suchinda Kraprayoon.
