Lure for foreign film-makers

The Cabinet has approved the establishment of a "one-stop service" office for international film producers working in Thailand.
The office, to be administered by the Prime Minister's Office, was proposed by the Tourism and Sports Ministry and will serve as a liaison point between international film-makers and relevant government agencies in matters of approval, permits and local support for film shooting at Thai locations.
The new one-stop office will also develop effective management services for international film producers and create motivation for international investment in film production in Thailand. - The Nation.
Telecoms : Nokia-AIS deal
Finnish mobile-phone giant Nokia and Thailand's Advanced Info Service (AIS), have signed a US$100-million (Bt3.59 billion) contract for the expansion of AIS's GSM/Edge network, resulting in nationwide coverage by both GSM and Edge.
Nokia will modernise AIS's network infrastructure and support it in providing innovative and user-friendly services. Edge technology allows the delivery of advanced mobile services like downloading of video and music clips, full multimedia messaging, high-speed colour Internet access and e-mail on the move.
Nokia's services, including managed services and systems integration, will enable AIS to concentrate on developing its business.
Under the agreement, Nokia will supply a wide range of its innovative GSM/Edge radio and core network solutions, including base stations. - The Nation.
Roofing: Diamond sales
Diamond Roofing Tiles expects sales growth of 10 per cent next year by focusing on export marketing, says executive director of marketing and sales Sathit Sudbanthad.
The company announced a net profit of Bt242.25 million from total sales of Bt1.85 billion in the first nine months of this year. - The Nation.
