Interlink chases state projects

Interlink Communication, a major distributor of cabling and computer-networking products, will set up a wholly owned subsidiary next year to focus on bidding for state telecom projects.
Chairman Sombat Anuantarumporn said the subsidiary, Interlink Telecom, would concentrate on bidding for projects by TOT, CAT Telecom, Thailand Post and other state enterprises. It expects revenues of at least Bt500 million in its first year of operations. Interlink Communication is listed on the Market for Alternative Investment and one of Thailand's major importers and distributors of cabling and networking products and accessories, from fibre-optic cables and connectors to rack cabinets. In the first three quarters of the year, Interlink posted a net profit of Bt81.96 million from total revenues of Bt713.42 million, up 92.39 per cent and 45 per cent, respectively, year on year. The company believes its revenue for the entire year will exceed its target of Bt835 million. Chiang Mai-branch manager Jeeradet Sombatnun said Interlink's establishment of branches in Chiang Mai and Hat Yai last year has enabled it to deliver products more quickly to the regional market and provide customers upcountry with closer support. He said the rapid expansion of computer use in Chiang Mai at universities and even in Internet cafes had contributed to higher local demand for the company's products.
