Too many pigs

To tackle a fall in price in the domestic market, the Swine Raisers' Association has asked farmers to reduce the number of both litters and sows 10-15 per cent.

President Surachai Sutthitham said the strategy would reduce supply from 900,000 to 800,000 sows. The association also asked for financial support from the government, to compensate farmers to freeze 40,000 baby pigs.
