The 2005 World Paramotor Champion Mathew Rounet of France suffered minor injuries yesterday when his craft came down in a lake.

Rounet was taking part in the opening of a book show at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 in Chiang Mai.

He and 11 members of the Chiang Mai Paramotor Club were to fly a souvenir book to a presentation with Agriculture Department deputy director Chirakorn Kosaisewe and Thanachai Santichaikul, president of the Publishers' and Booksellers' Association.

Rounet's leg became stuck in wires used to hold a fountain in place.

Rounet suffered scratches and was taken to hospital.

The Royal Flora Book Expo runs from December 16 to December 24 in the revolving exhibition hall.
