Staff issue statement

Although the Supreme Administrative Court's decision to uphold the Central Administrative Court's verdict (on iTV) affects the stability of the station, we hereby reaffirm that we shall continue to carry out our duty as a socially responsible media based on the station's founding objectives and professional ethics.

All of us stand by our obligation to honestly carry out our duty in line with journalistic ethics. We shall cover news based on facts with objectivity and fairness for the benefit of society. No matter how iTV is going to be transformed, we shall be a medium that reflects the challenging problems in society.

We call on the PM's Office and the iTV station's executives to consider the station's founding objectives and the socially-responsible media's working conditions in their negotiations to find a solution.

iTV staff, 14 December 2006
