Designer décor for luxury living

dwp design chief Kiattipong has gone for 'New York Style' Ralph Lauren furniture and matching dark oak in the show house for Sansiri's upmarket Narasiri homes

Kiattipong Boonpromsup, design director of dwp, selected Ralph Lauren furniture for the Narasiri house on Bangkok's Pattanakarn-Srinakarin, designed under the "modern luxury home" concept.

"Our customer, Sansiri, needed modern luxury-home decor for its show house that is targeting foreigners. As a result we set up a 'New York Style' housing theme decor by using the Ralph Lauren global furniture brand from the US," he said.

After dwp (design worldwide partnership) selected Ralph Lauren for the main furniture in the living room and master bedroom, Kiattipong continued his theme set by using dark oak colours for the floors and door-frames.

He also selected cotton-covered living-room furniture designed by Ralph Lauren that uses dark grey colours with a fishbone texture. Together with aluminium, wood and leather elements, the living room expresses a Western atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the kitchen and dining room were designed in earth colours, mixing furniture of leather, wood and cotton in a similar Western theme.

From the first floor to the second floor, visitors will be impressed by a modern ceiling lamp that contrasts the dark oak of upstairs with white cotton walls.

Kiattipong says wall cotton is different from wallpaper because it has a textured surface and contrasts with natural light and lamplight. That gives a warmer welcome for home-owners and visitors than traditional wallpaper.

For the second floor, Kiattipong uses slide windows made from cotton rather than curtains.

"We use slide windows to replace curtains because that gives a different feeling," he says.

The theme of the master bedroom is also Western, with a big bed and a large mirror that makes the room seem wide and welcoming.

Kiattipong adds that the

main raw materials for the master bedroom are wood and cotton, while he also used cow leather to present the Western-style concept.

"Foreigners are our customer target and as a result we have to decorate all the rooms in the show house in Western style. When home-buyers visit our show house, they have to feel like staying at home in their Western country," he says.

Kiattipong adds that he had to control colour and raw material to make visitors feel a warm welcome - the main idea of the d?cor in his show house.
