Ousted PM's Children do not have to pay taxes : Surapong

The Network of People's Power for Democracy leader Surapong Towijakchaikul visited the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) on Monday to defend the deposed Prime Minister's children, saying they should not have to pay tax on the sale of Shin Corp shares.
Surapong, a former Thai Rak Thai party member, made the claim after submitting documents transcribed from the records of the deputy directorgeneral of the Revenue Department during his inquiry with the economic committee on February 1. "At that time, the deputy director general insisted that Panthongtae and Pinthongta, did not have to pay tax. But today, the Revenue Department has broken its word, asking them to pay Bt5.8 billion in owed tax," he said. He said he needs to submit the evidence to the NCCC to examine whether the Revenue Department's performance is legitimate or not. However, Surapong dismissed claims that he was defending the Shinawatra family. "I simply want the NCCC to check what happened with the department. How can people trust a government agency when today they have shown that they can change their word," said Surapong. The Nation
