Concern over ties to MPs

Problems may occur because many selected members of the National People's Assembly (NPA) are closely linked to politicians, a member of the screening committee said yesterday.

Lt-Colonel Dr Kamolpan Cheewapansri said the screening panel met to discuss the selection process in each province and found the big problem was many NPA members had ties with politicians. She said provincial governors should not be members of the screening panel in the provinces as they tended to favour MPs.
